Power cable maintenance, testing should pay attention to matters

As a part of power line, power cable is widely used because of its low fault probability, safety and reliability, and flexible outlet. However, once the fault occurs, the maintenance is more difficult and the risk is also large, so special attention should be paid to the maintenance and testing.

Precautions in work
Check the cables to be repaired during operation. Cables to be serviced can be divided into 2 types:
A cable with a faulty terminal and an obvious fault point on the surface of the cable body. Such faulty cables have obvious signs of failure and are easy to confirm.
The cable surface does not expose the fault point. For such faulty cables, in addition to checking the data and verifying the name of the cable, it is necessary to identify the cable identifier to distinguish it from other live cables in operation, especially when there are many cables in the same section, it is particularly important to strictly distinguish the cables to be repaired from other live cables. At the same time, this can also effectively prevent the wrong cable due to the cable label hanging wrong, resulting in the occurrence of the wrong live cable accident. Sawing the cable must have reliable safety protection measures. Before sawing the cable, it must be confirmed that the cable needs to be cut and that the cable has no power, and then, use a grounded iron rod with a wooden handle (preferably with an epoxy resin handle) to nail into the cable core before working. The person with the wooden handle should wear insulation gloves and stand on the insulation pad, and special attention should be paid to ensure that the iron is well grounded.

(2) If you need to move the cable in the work, you should be careful, do not act recklessly, and strictly prevent damage to other cables in operation. The cable head must be installed according to the process requirements to ensure the quality and leave no potential accidents. After the cable is repaired, the phase of both ends of the cable should be carefully checked, the original phase color mark should be removed first, and the correct phase color mark should be put on to prevent the new and old phase color confusion.
